OEE Calculator

Overall equipment effectiveness shows how much of your planned time turned into good product. Enter one shift, day or week for one asset or line.

Your numbers

How it works

The math, in plain view.

OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality. Availability is run time divided by planned time. Performance is ideal cycle time × total units, divided by run time. Quality is good units divided by total units.

The three factors tell you where to look. Low availability points to breakdowns and changeovers, low performance to small stops and slow running, low quality to scrap and rework. Fix the biggest of the three first.

What is a good OEE?

85% is the figure most often quoted as world class for discrete manufacturing. Many plants run well below that. Track your own trend weekly and use the breakdown to pick the next fix.

Should planned maintenance count against OEE?

Not in this calculation. Planned stops are removed from planned production time. Some plants track it separately as TEEP.

Why is my performance over 100%?

The ideal cycle time is set too slow. Use the nameplate or the best sustained rate you have seen.
